Congratulations for taking the first step to becoming a contestant in Australia’s biggest and most prestigious beauty pageant for drag queen/female impersonator entertainers and transgender women.


This event will showcase the artistry of female impersonation as well as celebrate transgender beauty.

It aims to raise awareness and promote equality for the LGBTIQ+ community in society and the workforce.


  • Contestants must be Australian citizens, residents or valid visa holders (tourist or student visa allowed). 

  • Contestants must not have committed any crime, be involved in any illegal activities/inappropriate behaviour or be part of any publication/website/film that may result in embarrassment to the pageant, other contestants or sponsors.

  • Former winners cannot apply. Previous runner-ups, finalists and special award recipients may re-apply.

  • The following cannot also apply:  members of the pageant committee in the past or present, sponsors of the pageant, previous members of the board of judges, emcees/hosts, and any individual who are in one way or the other are or were connected to the pageant management.

  • Contestants will be judged on their ability to provide the judges and audience with a clear understanding of their goals and aspirations as well as how competently they answer questions.

  • Contestants will be required to take part in social media, pageant and community events before and after the pageant ceremony, including media conferences/shoots/interviews, the Summer Night Market, Australia Day Parade, pageant ceremony rehearsal, Midsumma Pride March, and Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.

  • Contestants must not use their titles to endorse, promote or solicit any job, business, product, service, or company in any form including, but not limited to electronic, video, audio, seminars, and personal communication, without prior written consent from Miss Gay & Miss Transsexual Australia International.

  • Winners will be crowned in Melbourne, Australia and be required to perform 12 months of promotional and charity commitments.

Miss Gay Australia International
Miss Gay Australia International is open to all drag performers aged above 18 years as of January 1, 2020. 

Miss Gay Australia International contestants must be born male. 


Contestants must be able to achieve a polished look using their imagination, creativity and resourcefulness. 


Contestants will be assessed on their appearance, eloquence, charisma, level of artistry in the art of Drag, talent, individuality, personality and dedication to forwarding the Pageants message of Acceptance, Diversity and Equality. 


Although lip-sync is the most popular act, contestants may sing, dance, perform comedy or any other unique and entertaining talent they possess. 


Contestants will be judged in the following categories: Pre-Pageant Interview, Talent, Themed Costume, Evening Gown and Stage Question-and-Answer.


Miss Transsexual Australia International
Miss Transsexual Australia International is open to all transgender women aged above 18 years as of January 1, 2020. 

Miss Transsexual Australia International contestants must be born male and can be in any stage of their gender transition (non/pre/post-operation) and may have body feminisation (eg. female hormones, breast/body implants and/or injectable fillers). 

They will be required to attend an interview prior to their stage presentation. 

Contestants will be assessed on their grace and elegance, intelligence, confidence, charisma, eloquence, individuality, and dedication to promoting the Pageants message of Acceptance, Diversity and Equality.

They will be judged in the following categories: Pre-Pageant Interview, Themed Costume, Themed Swimsuit/Activewear, Evening Gown and Stage Question-and-Answer.
